Kukatpally

Kukatpally

Kukatpally is one of Hyderabad's largest and most established residential suburbs, stretching along NH 65, the Mumbai Highway, in the north west of the city. It grew around the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony, better known as KPHB, and the JNTU Hyderabad campus, and today combines dense apartment neighbourhoods with a deep base of schools, hospitals, retail and markets.

Connectivity is its main strength. The Red Line metro runs through the suburb with stations at JNTU College, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally and Moosapet, linking it to Ameerpet and the city centre, and HITEC City is about 6 km away. New supply in Kukatpally comes mostly from the redevelopment of older industrial and institutional land parcels, such as those near the IDL lake, because large vacant plots are scarce. The trade off for this convenience is heavy traffic on the highway and at the main junctions during peak hours.
